Earlier today, Realis Estates secured planning permission from Stoke-on-Trent City Council for the redevelopment of Parliament Row.
The approved scheme – which is an important step towards the transformation of the southern end of the City Centre – will create up to 58,000 sq ft of flexible, modern retail and/or restaurant space with a maximum of five units on the ground floor plus a separate unit on the first floor.
Realis has also written to all the existing tenants to inform them of the outcome and explain that they will not be asked to vacate their premises – regardless of the terms of their lease – until the New Year allowing them time to make alternative arrangements and ensuring they can take advantage of the Christmas trading period.
Duncan Mathieson, Managing Director of Realis Estates said: “We are delighted to have secured permission for the redevelopment of Parliament Row. It is an important step towards our vision for the City Centre and will provide modern, flexible space, which is currently unavailable elsewhere.
“There are a number of operators interested in occupying the space and now that planning has been granted these negotiations can be progressed. We will now finalise timings of the project and look forward to getting on site as soon as possible.“
Realis has also been continuing to work up its plans for the main scheme on the site of the East West Centre and the old bus station and discussions with Stoke-on-Trent City Council are ongoing.
Mathieson added: “We have been making great progress on bringing forward the main scheme with both the Stoke-on-Trent City Council and also potential tenants. We hope to be in a position to make further announcements in September.”
